nur bekri, vice chairman of the national development & reform commission (ndrc) and head of the national energy administration (nea) visited snerdi to inspect the research condition of the national scientific and technology major project of large advanced pressurized water reactor (pwr) nuclear power plant(npp). others attending the delegation are officials from the nea, the ndrc of shanghai municipality and east china energy regulatory bureau.
dr. zheng mingguang, chief designer of the large advanced passive pwr npp, vice president of snptc and president of snerdi reported on the overview of snerdi and the research and follow-up technology development of the major project. eight year of innovation and research has brought about a series of key progress and symbolic achievements in the development of the major project, including 2,066 results with intellectual property right, 179 items of new product, material, process and equipment, etc. with the r & d of cap1400, the nuclear power model with fully independent propriety right, the advanced passive nuclear power technology is in good command and the nuclear power test capability of world class level formulated, boosting a leap for national equipment manufacturing capability towards the third generation. cap1400 demonstration project is currently ready for start and the conceptual design of cap1700 and the design of small reactor (smr) are on good progress.
mr. nur bekri gave high attention to the important role of nuclear power in china’s economic and social development and affirmed the r&d work of the major project. he pointed out that as the independent designer of china’s first npp as well as the first exported npp, snerdi has made tremendous contribution to the initiation and development of national nuclear power industry. as the main responsible unit of the technology of large advanced passive pwr npp, snerdi has integrated domestic technical and scientific institutions and organizations and carried out remarkably effective innovation, collectively pushing forward the localization of gen ⅲ nuclear power technology.
in his further requirement, mr. nur bekri emphasized that all-out efforts should be made on the demonstration project of cap140 and the localized ap1000 design need to be optimized and standardized. moreover, snerdi should proactively propel the “going out” practice of cap1400 and accelerate the research of advanced nuclear power research projects such as smr, making new and greater contribution for national energy security.
