from may 21 to 24, 2019, delegation from shanghai nuclear engineering research & design institute (snerdi) was invited to attend the pressurized water reactor (pwr) secondary chemistry meeting held by electric power research institute (epri) in charlotte, u.s.a, for technology workshops of hydrazine alternatives and dispersant application.

during the workshops, snerdi shared the research plans of investigation into hydrazine alternatives for pwr secondary water chemistry, participated in the industry-wide collaboration aiming at forging a coordinated and leveraged platform to develop alternatives, and acknowledges the lessons learnt and the latest research activities from operating plants of dispersant application.

utilities and institutes have engaged in identifying and evaluating alternatives for pwr primary and secondary side application due to the health and environment hazard caused by hydrazine. and researches are also focused on dispersant application to minimize secondary side corrosion and deposition and increase the durability and stability of main components within the plants.
