from june 17 – 19, 2019, the 7th edition of asia nuclear business platform (anbp2019), organized by industry platform and co-operated by state power investment cooptation (spic) shanghai nuclear research & design institute (snerdi), is taking place in beijing.

anbp provides a world-class platform to access and gain first-hand insights on the global and especially asian nuclear market. this year, the conference provides latest updates and addresses hot-button issues while the diversity and seniority of participants facilitates unparallel networking opportunities.

dr. zheng mingguang, chief designer of cap1400 and president of snerdi, is invited to deliver keynote speech on prospects of advanced pwr and smr. he shares opinions on opportunities and challenges for nuclear, ideal deployment of china’s nuclear power development, achievements gained through r&d of pwrs and innovation of nuclear energy technology. he says, advanced pwr will still be deployed for next 30 years at least, and the platform, resources, technology, industrial chain and institutional mechanism formed by national major projects will support the future-oriented miniaturized, intelligent, digital and lightweight clean nuclear energy technologies development.

during the panel discussion moderated by the former presidential appointee of nrc, partner of pillsbury jeffrey merrifield, dr. wang xianghang, director general of nuclear energy safety and development department of spic, together with experts from canadian nuclear laboratories, think atom and mothers for nuclear discusses climate change and its impact on advanced reactor deployment. dr. wang provides insights on how climate change will have an impact on advanced nuclear energy technologies and what spic has done and will do to contribute on nuclear section.

representatives from spic/snerdi also speak in smrs & advanced reactors pre-conference and other sessions including importance of effective communications to the future of nuclear energy, lessons learnt from first-of-a-kind gen iii/iii new plant construction experience, insights on china’s current nuclear business climate, and fuel, waste management & decommissioning. business team from snerdi holds meetings with assytem, indonesia delegation, department of energy from philippines respectively to seek potential collaboration possibilities. 

during the platform, spic/snerdi hosts a booth on the theme of powering nuclear technology, sharing the future to introduce technology capabilities, advanced reactors, digitalized design and so on. on june 20, with the support from shandong nuclear power company, part of the attendees is invited to visit haiyang nuclear power plant.
